Embark on the extraordinary journey of Datu Tim Hartman, a stalwart figure in Filipino Martial Arts (FMA). His formal martial training began in Modern Arnis. After just one year, he became a direct student of the late Grand Master Remy A. Presas, affectionately known as "The Prof." GM Presas, recognizing Hartman's prowess, elevated him to the esteemed title of "Datu" and the highest-ranked active American.
In 1998, Hartman expanded his expertise by training in Kombatan under GM Presas's younger brother, Ernesto Presas. A pivotal moment he occurred in 2007 when GM Ernesto bestowed upon Hartman a 9th-degree black belt, appointing him as the Grand Master of the family system during his visit to the Philippines.
Datu Hartman's pursuit of knowledge continued as he earned certifications in various disciplines, including Modern Arnis, Kombatan, Balintawak Eskrima, Bando, Kuntaw, and Sikaran. His commitment to spreading the richness of FMA extended globally, as he taught and shared his wisdom in numerous countries, including the Philippines, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and many more.

Datu Hartman has attracted a roster of distinguished instructors to his events, including luminaries such as Grand Master Remy A. Presas, Dr. Maung Gyi, Grand Master Bobby Taboada, and many more.
Beyond the martial arts arena, Datu Hartman brings a unique dimension to his journey. A skilled choreographer, he blends his expertise in the performing arts with martial arts, showcasing a dynamic fusion of disciplines. His background in music and acting converged seamlessly, allowing him to contribute as a fight choreographer in the film industry.
Datu Hartman is not just a skilled martial artist but also a formidable competitor. His competition career, starting in the mid-80s, has been marked by numerous achievements, including two World Titles in Stick Fighting at the 2014 World Sikaran Championship and multiple titles in the 2018 edition.
In addition to his martial prowess, Datu Hartman pioneered Tactical Edged Weapons Defensive Tactics (EDT), offering a 101 approach to bladed defence employed in police academies and street crime units.
The Tomahawk, a resurgent tool on the battlefield, finds a unique place in Datu Hartman's curriculum. Whether teaching multi-plane movement, enhanced disarming, or reinforcing striking lines, the Tomahawk is a valuable tool in both martial and emergencies.
